All About Ann...

Born and raised in southern Maryland, Hu began studying piano at age 8, classical singing at age 14, painting, gymnastics, dance and competed and won in regional and state level oratorical speech contests throughout her youth.

Hu earned a scholarship and attended New York University's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts. There, she studied at the musical theater studio, CAP21 (Collaborative Arts Project, 21st Century), where she trained in drama, comedy, Shakespeare, singing and dance and earned her BFA at the end of what she still calls "the four hardest years of my life."

Hu has worked with many notable artists in film, television and theater; including Off-Broadway director Maria Mileaf, Tony Award Winning producer John Glines, Obie Award winning director Richard Caliban, and film and television stars Raven-Symone, Matt LeBlanc, Tim Allen, Jerry Orbach, Mark Harmon, LL Cool J, Chris O'Donnell and Oscar Award winning actresses like Halle Berry and Reese Witherspoon.

In Los Angeles, Hu has stretched and explored her talents as a stand up comic and a freelance writer for Backstage's formerly Unscripted; a Blog for Actors; where she shared her experiences and perspectives as an Asian American actress in today's industry and as an Asian American woman in today's ever changing world.

During those four years, she accumulated up to 100,000 daily readers from China, England, New York and Los Angeles. As a stand up she has performed at the Improv, the Comedy Store, M-Bar, and other venues.

She enjoys the outdoors, travel, road trips, cooking, hiking, a sustainable lifestyle, swimming, volunteering for non-for-profits, and attending music festivals.

Hu is forever grateful for her parents, friends and family and is the proud mother of her Lhasa Apso rescue dog, Chloe Love.
